As a man of science, I ask you to forget about science for a second.
Plants eat light, and we eat plants or animals who eat plants, which means we are made up of light.
Light is a subset of vibrations emitted from the acceleration of charge.
What is charge?
Intelligence comes from repeated self-control, self-awareness and ability to concentrate. As energy coalesces, it becomes self-aware. For example, we start as babies that purely feel emotion and desires. These guide our actions and we are unable to track or concentrate on ideas. When we accumulate enough mass to grow organs enabling logical thought, we are able to create arguments and form opinions. Eventually, we come to realize logic and our thoughts themselves are patterns and frameworks of thinking. Our uniqueness then comes from a sense of self, belonging and upbringing (and with that a greater spiritual connection). However, that too is flawed: anyone put in the same circumstances with the same biological history would arrive at the same conclusions of self-image.
Determinism can be followed up to your own nature. So man arrives at a sore spot. He has nothing left to suspend any unique notion of himself. Left to his own thoughts, he seeks to control his behaviors so he can express whatever is distinct from his emotions, desires, intellect and spirit - men of reverance have always had the air of channeling the divine.
